Did you know May is Cancer Awareness Month and yesterday, May 2nd, was Melanoma Monday?
Our goal this month is to highlight simple things you can do to boost your body, which will decrease your risk of developing cancer or a reoccurrence.
Cancer is a word to which most of us have a personal reaction. It may bring up a memory of a person lost, a triumphant feeling for a survivor, or most commonly fear.
I lost my grandma to cancer when I was in 3rd grade and didn't understand it. My dad was diagnosed my junior year at University of Arizona, and for the first time I understood the fear cancer can create. Thankfully, his prostate cancer was caught early and treated successfully. When I lost my friend Meghan at age 27 to Melanoma, I felt anger and despair. Although I still feel sad and angry at times, I know that that is not what her two year battle was meant to create. I have chosen to take those feelings and transform them into motivation and action. Meghan is a big part of what inspires me every day to get up and do my best to make life worth living. Her courage is what empowers me to set up the BIM "PREVENT TENT" and promote healthy living at Relay for Life.
The number one frustration I hear from people is, "it seems like EVERYTHING causes cancer, so why bother." It is true, cancer is a very complex disease with many triggers. If you have a desire to do what you can to avoid it, here are three simple steps:
- look at your toxin intake
- examine symptoms that may indicate your toxicity levels are high
- consult with a professional about your symptoms
I have attached a toxicity questionnaire for you to print out and complete. Contact me for more information about your score (949) 515-4006 or drstamm@balanceinmoiton.com. Making the decision to be proactive is the most important step, and one you will have to commit to again and again.
Check your email next week for information on acupuncture and cancer prevention and treatment. It may surprise you what stimulating a few specific points can do for your health.
